At the invitation of BEI of Lao PDR, a 13-person team of XTBG conducted a large-scale biodiversity investigation in northern Lao from March 20 to April 12.

Two new species of Oreocharis Benth. from Fan Si Pan, the highest mountain in Vietnam (Sa Pa) are described and illustrated.
Seven new species were found.
Based on morphological studies performed on live plants in the field and specimens deposited in herbaria, a new species, Glochidion shanense was founded.

Announcement of Project Application from CAS-SEABRI
The MoU was signed when Prof. Dr Boviengkham Vongdara, Minister of Science and Technology (MoST) of Lao PDR headed up a delegation to XTBG, where CAS president Bai Chunli met and discussed cooperation between CAS and Lao.
The 6th China–Myanmar joint field expedition by researchers of the CAS-SEABRI to survey biodiversity in north Myanmar came to a successful end on December 23.
